SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is an excellent example of an Omega Speedmaster, of the so-called “Pre-Moon” models, Reference 105.012-66, circa 1966, with a correct serial range of 24xxxxx, with a rare “CB” case. CB stands for the casemaker, Le Centrale Boites, which produced Speedmaster cases for Omega for a short 6 months in 1966, and only for this specific reference.
This example is in beautiful vintage condition. The case does not show any signs of polishing, but is worn from use; there are no toolmarks on the outside of the caseback. The dial is perfect, with no blemishes. The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to a nice golden yellow color. The original and correct “DON” (Dot Over Ninety) bezel is in excellent shape, with only minor wear.
Further, the watch comes fitted on its original flat-link Omega bracelet, coded 1039 and dating to the 2nd quarter of 1967, with correct 516 endlinks. The bracelet is in great shape, considering these bracelets were easily broken or stretched, prompting Omega to replace them in the late 1960s, and it appears fully-linked.
