SOLD
Description
Long before there was a “Red” Submariner, there was this – the Oyster Perpetual, Reference 6084 – featuring one line of text in red. The Rolex Ref. 6084 is a transitional piece from the Bubbleback, which paved the way for Rolex’s marquee model – the Datejust. This Oyster Perpetual, produced in 1953, features a rare “honeycomb” dial, with the word “officially” written in red, presumably to highlight the fact that this watch was an officially certified chronometer-spec movement.
This Oyster Perpetual is in great vintage condition. The case does not appear to have been polished, with thick and beautiful lugs. The dial is gorgeous – only the lightest of aging visible, and overall very well-preserved. The original radium lume is still present in both dial and hands, aged to a dark brown. The watch comes equipped on a Rolex USA jubilee band.
