Description
Offered here is a lovely example of Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6239, circa 1968, fit with an exotic dial, nicknamed the “Paul Newman” Daytona, due to the fact that the famous actor favored wearing the Rolex Daytona with the exotic dial, and can be seen in many photographs wearing the watch. This example is outfitted with a tri-color reverse-panda dial and pump pushers. Further, this particular example comes with its original Rolex box, Daytona booklet, and Guarantee Certificate booklet, showing the original date of sale in August of 1971.
The condition of this Daytona is great. The case is very strong, with thick and even lugs, seemingly unpolished. The dial is in beautiful condition, with no major wear or scratches, overall very well-preserved. Likewise, the original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, with beautiful and puffy, yellow plots, and no visible loss whatsoever.
The watch comes on a Rolex rivet C&I bracelet, dated to 1971, and has 11 full links with virtually no stretch.
