Up for grabs is an exceptional and incredibly rare/important Rolex Turn-O-Graph, reference 6202, circa 1953. The Turn-O-Graph has achieved legendary status in the vintage Rolex world as the pre-cursor to the mighty Submariner, and the first watch to feature a rotating bezel by the brand. Clearly the design influence for the Submariner, the Turn-O-Graph was produced with a similar waterproof case for diving, and made in a smaller size, coming in at 36mm. This particular Turn-O-Graph happens to be one of the rarest of all, featuring a very early “honeycomb” and “split logo” gilt dial, with matching early bezel insert, before Rolex incorporated the “red triangle” at 12 o’clock.
This particular Rolex Turn-O-Graph is in nice vintage condition. The case has been lightly polished in the past, retaining thick and even lugs. The dial is well-preserved, with no major flaws or wear. Likewise, the original radium lume is still present and in-tact on both dial and hands, albeit with some loss to the markers, aging to a dark yellow color. The watch is fit on a Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet with 64 endlinks, and a rare Gay Freres 1962 clasp, dating a bit later than the watch; the bracelet has likely been restored in the past, and has 11 full links with no stretch.
