Up for grabs is an excellent example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 3.2 million, this watch dates the watch to 1971, and has an “MK4” dial. Further, the watch comes with its original inner and outer Rolex box, and original “punched” Guarantee Chronometer certificate, showing the point of original sale to a store in Montreal, Canada.
The present example is in excellent condition. The case shows thick and even lugs, with original beveled edges still visible, and does not appear to have been polished in the past. The dial is mint, with no flaws, marks or chips. The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to a vibrant yellow color. The “fat font” and “kissing 40” bezel insert has aged to a naturally faded blue color, with minimal wear.
The watch comes fitted on a Rolex flip-lock 93150 bracelet, with 501B endlinks. The bracelet has light stretch/wear.
