Description
Up for grabs is an extremely uncommon reference – the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Precision “Explorer Date” – bearing the reference number 5700. This reference was made for and sold in the Canadian market. Further, these watches, along with the “Air-King-Date” models, were designed as a watch for pilots of the British Royal Airforce during the Battle of Britain. This example features dauphine markers and hands, and an applied Rolex logo.
The condition of this rare Rolex Explorer-Date is excellent. The case is unpolished and sharp, with light wear. The dial, as photographed, has developed an extremely unique and striking patina, aged to a golden yellow/orange color. The original radium lume, which likely played a role in its lovely color, has itself aged to a golden orange color.
Please note: the “beads of rice” bracelet is not a Rolex bracelet.
