SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a gorgeous example of a gilt-dial Rolex Submariner, Ref. 5513, circa 1966 (1.4m serial). This dial variant is nicknamed the “Bart Simpson” due to the similar appearance of the coronet on the dial to the famous character’s head. The watch itself is in fantastic condition. The case appears unpolished, still showing the original beveled edges, with a thick and even case, and normal wear. The dial is beautiful and super glossy, and retains the factory “mirror”-like finish, with no bubbling, hairlines, scratches, etc., which are usually found on this dial variant. The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, matching and aged to a golden yellow. The “Long 5” bezel insert is correct for the era, and has minimal wear, with its original matching pear. The watch comes on its original Rolex rivet 7206 bracelet, with 80 endlinks, dated to 1967, and has 12 full links and almost no stretch.
This is a true collector’s grade gilt Sub, worthy of any serious Rolex collection!
