Offered here is a “first series” Patek Philippe Aquanaut, the Reference 5060J, first debuted and released in 1997. Initially limited to approximately 1,000 pieces (as the ref. 5060A for steel and 5060J for gold), the model was introduced shortly after the brand’s first highly-successful sports watch, the Patek Philippe Nautilus celebrated its 20th anniversary. The present example features a highly desirable gloss-black dial with Roman numeral markers, and according to the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives (included in the sale, in addition to the original box), this watch was sold in its inaugural year of 1997. Further, it is still fitted on an original Patek Philippe leather strap and Patek deployment buckle.
The Aquanaut itself is in great vintage condition. The case has been professionally detailed and is extremely clean. Likewise in condition, the dial and hands are impeccable, with no wear.
