Description

Up for grabs is a terrific example of the later execution and more desirable “jumbo” 37mm Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox “alarm” wristwatch.  According to one the world’s leading and most respected JLC [gentleman and] scholars, Mr. Zaf Basha, as written in his book, “Jaeger LeCoultre – A Guide for the Collector”, the Cal. 815 JLC Memovox was the world’s first automatic alarm movement, built after the success of JLC’s hand-wound alarms.  This example, a Reference E853, circa 1960, features a silver “no-date”, or “time-only” dial layout, and dauphine hands, filled with radium.

The condition of the JLC Memovox is excellent.  The case is unpolished and in great shape.  The dial shows little to no wear, and is very well-preserved.  Finally, the original radium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to an orange color.
