Eberhard Pre-Extra Fort “Gilt” Chronograph

Description
Up for grabs is a very attractive Eberhard “Pre-Extra Fort” chronograph, circa 1940s. These watches, which were oversized for the time, were housed in 40mm fixed bar stainless steel cases, and often featured sector and snail dial combinations. Further, these early Eberhard chronographs also featured an in-house movement, integrating a neat sliding mechanism on the bottom chronograph pusher, allowing the wearer to make sure the chronograph is not activated or reset by mistake. The present watch features such a dial, and is arguably the most popular and desirable variant, with a black, gilt configuration.
This Eberhard chronograph is in excellent condition. The correct and original fixed-bars case does not show signs of serious polishing. The dial is in excellent condition for an Eberhard of this era, which are usually faded and damaged; the present example shows only light wear consistent with aging, and is extremely attractive.
