Description
Up for grabs is one of the most desirable and undoubtedly rare Universal Geneve chronographs in existence – the so-called “Big Eye” Uni-Compax, circa 1960s. Housed in a larger, 37mm case, and powered a UG Cal. 125 (Valjoux 23), these were a large break from the typical sports model chronographs of the 1960s, and especially those produced by UG. Not many of these are known to exist, only coming to market a handful of times per year. This particular example is fitted with a “panda” dial, white with black contrasting registers
The watch is itself is in nice vintage condition. The case has been lightly polished, but still retains thick, sharp, and even lugs. The panda dial is perfect, with no flaws. The dial and hands retain their original tritium lume, aged to a nice yellow color. Please Note: the winding crown has been replaced in the past, and the reference/serial numbers on the caseback are no longer visible, as is often the case, due to normal wear/polishing.
