Tudor “7928” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Montres Tudor SA has designed, manufactured and marketed Tudor watches since March of 1946. Rolex founder Hans Wildorf created Tudor to create a product for authorized Rolex dealers at a cheaper price than Rolex, while still offering the same quality product as a Rolex.  Offered here is Tudor’s version of the Rolex Submariner, which debuted in the 1950s.  This particular example dates to 1966, and features a glossy “gilt” non-chapter ring dial, instead with hashes that run to the edge of the dial.

This Tudor Submariner is in excellent vintage condition.  The case appears unpolished, with thick and defined beveled edges.  The dial is in great condition, still extremely glossy, with some light spidering visible at an angle/under a loupe, consistent with the aging of these gloss dial Tudor Submariners.  The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, aged to a beautiful yellow.  The fat font insert is correct for the period, in great condition, with the original pearl matching the color of the lume on the dial/hands.
