Tudor “7928 PCG Exclamation” Submariner

Description

Montres Tudor SA has designed, manufactured and marketed Tudor watches since March of 1946. Rolex founder Hans Wildorf created Tudor to create a product for authorized Rolex dealers at a cheaper price than Rolex, while still offering the same quality product as a Rolex.  Offered here is Tudor’s version of the Rolex Submariner, which debuted in the 1950s.  This particular example dates to 1962-63, bearing the reference 7928, and features an extremely rare “chapter ring” and “exclamation mark” dial, fitted in a “pointed crown guards”, or “PCG” case; the “exclamation mark” dial (with an extra lume dot prominent displayed above the 6 o’clock marker) is believed to be an indicator from Rolex of their transition from the use of radium luminescent material to tritium.  These particular case and dial styles were only used in the earliest of Tudor Submariners, throughout a small period in the early 1960s.

This Tudor Submariner is in great vintage condition.  The case appears unpolished (or if it ever was, it was extremely light), with the original beveled edges still clearly visible and prominent.  The dial is gorgeous, with no flaws, chips, or scratches.  Further, the original radium lume is still present on both the dial and hands, aged to a pale yellow color, and extremely attractive.  The original and period-correct “Long 5” bezel insert is likewise in great condition, with minimal wear.

The watch comes fitted on its original Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet with rare 75 endlinks, and dates to 1964.  The bracelet has 12 full links with virtually no stretch.
