Description
Up for grabs is a very rare Triton Spirotechnique, a French brand. This watch was produced/co-branded Spirotechnique, which was at the time a supplier of diving equipment for both civilians and the military in France. These watches are very unique for their placement of the crown at 12 o’clock, leaving it less subject to damage while diving.
The present example is in great vintage condition. The case appears lightly polished, but with original beveled edges present. The dial is the nicest we have ever seen on this model – extremely glossy still and with no flaws. The original tritium lume is still present in both dial and hands, aged to a golden yellow color. The bakelite bezel is in great condition, with no cracks.
Although unsupported, common belief is that the appearance of a Rolex crown on a Spirotechnique is evidence that the watch may have been serviced by an M.N. (Marine Nationale; French Navy) watchmaker.
