Rolex “6239” Daytona

SOLD

Description

Offered here is a very early example of Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6239 (circa 1964; 1.09m serial), with a lovely “panda” dial (white with black registers).  This particular example features an early dial variant without Daytona on the dial, only displaying “Rolex Cosmograph”, and “-T Swiss T-” at the bottom, which was only used on early Daytonas.

This Daytona is in nice vintage condition. The case has been previously polished, but retains thick and even lugs. The dial is in beautiful condition, with very light patina/spotting towards the edge of the dial between the 10 and 11 o’clock markers. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color, with minor loss to the 1 and 9 o’clock plots, which is very common for these early Daytonas.  Further, the watch retains its period correct “long hour hand” and “300 UPH bezel”.

The watch comes equipped on a Rolex Swiss 7205 Rivet bracelet, dated to 1964, with 57 endlinks.  The bracelet has 12 full links and light stretch.
