Rolex “Tropical Gilt 1016” Explorer

Up for grabs a beautiful example of a gilt-dial Rolex Explorer, Ref. 1016, with gilt dial. This example dates to 1966, with a serial of 1.4m. The case has been lightly polished, with thick and even lugs. The gilt dial is in great vintage condition, still very glossy and attractive with normal aging/patina set in, and aged to a nice brown, tropical color on parts of the dial. The original tritium lume is all-present on both dial and hands, aged to a nice golden yellow color. Lastly, the watch comes fitted on a Rolex rivet 7206 bracelet, with 58 endlinks, and is dated to 1967; the bracelet has 12 full links and virtually no stretch.
