SOLD
Description
Offered here is a rare and early example of arguably Rolex’s most popular line – the Datejust. This Datejust bears a Reference of 6605, and was produced circa 1958. These early Datejusts were transitional from the Rolex Bubbleback models, sharing the Cal. 1066 movement, which was shortly thereafter replaced by the Cal. 1030. These early Datejusts often feature early “dauphine” hands, as can be seen on the present example.
This Rolex Datejust is in excellent vintage condition. The case is very lightly polished (light touch up to the top of the lugs), very well-preserved for its age. The dial has aged to a beautiful cream/orange color, overall very well-preserved with no scratches, marks, etc. The original radium lume is present on the dial and hands, aged to a golden orange color. Further, the watch comes fitted on a later Rolex USA Jubilee band, with 555 endlinks; the band will fit a large wrist, and has no stretch.
