Description
Up for grabs is one of the most stunning examples of a Rolex GMT-Master with a glossy gilt dial, circa 1965-66 (1.3m serial), reference 1675, that we have seen in quite some time. This example is the last gilt dial Rolex produced before transitioning to the matte dial in/around 1967. and has begun to age to a lovely brown or “tropical” color.
This Rolex GMT-Master is in excellent vintage condition. The case is unpolished and sharp, with original beveled edges. The dial is beautiful – still very glossy, with minimal wear visible under a loupe (in particular, one small crack to the lacquer next to the 11 o’clock marker), and shows some aging to a brown color. The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a golden yellow color. The original and period-correct fat-font “Pepsi” bezel insert is in nice condition, with a nice and light fade set in to the colors. Further, the watch comes equipped on a Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet with 80 endlinks, dates to 1966, and is in excellent condition with no stretch and 11 full links.
