Up for grabs is an absolutely beautiful example of a gilt-dial open-chapter ring Rolex Explorer, Ref. 1016, we have had the pleasure of offering for sale. This example dates to 1965, with a serial of 1.3m. The case does not show any obvious signs of polishing, and is well-preserved with normal wear. The gilt dial is a true mirror – it is in beautiful condition, extremely glossy, with only the most minor of wear visible under a loupe. The original tritium lume is in-tact and preserved, present on both the original hands and dial, aged to a golden yellow color. Finally, the watch remains on its original Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet, with 58 endlinks and dated to 1965, and has 11 links with very little stretch.
