Rolex “Full-Set Root Beer” GMT-Master

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a lovely example of the popular “Root Beer” Rolex GMT-Master, in two-tone steel and yellow gold, circa 1977.  This example features the so-called “nipple” and “tiger’s eye” dial, due to the smaller hour markers and the dial’s sunburst color, similar to that of the gemstone by the same name (tiger eye).  Additionally, this particular example comes complete as a full-set with its original Rolex box, brochures, and Rolex “punched” Guarantee Certificate, dating the original sale of the watch to 1978.

This Rolex GMT-Master is in great condition.  The case appears unpolished (or if it was polished, it was done lightly), with nice original and sharp beveled edges, and minimal wear.  The dial is gorgeous, with no wear/damage, with all its factory gloss in tact.  The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a beautiful dark yellow/orange color.  The watch comes fitted on a Rolex Swiss 78363 Two-Tone band, and has 12 full-links with no stretch, and a lovely patina on the center links of the bracelet.  Please Note: one of the endlinks was replaced at some point in the past, as one is marked 558, and the other 593.
