Up for grabs a beautiful example of a gilt-dial Rolex Explorer, Ref. 1016, with gilt “chapter ring” dial. This example dates to 1964, with a serial of 1.0m. The case has been lightly polished, with thick and even lugs. The gilt dial is in great vintage condition, still very glossy and attractive, with a light matting setting in, visible at an angles, which is common due to the aging of radium against a gloss dial. The lume is all-present on both dial and hands, aged to a gorgeous golden yellow color.
Further, the watch comes with its original Rolex box and Guarantee certificate, dating the sale of the watch originally to June 1, 1965. The watch comes fitted on a Rolex rivet 7206 bracelet, with one 380 and 385 endlinks (one endlink was likely replaced at some point), and is dated to the 4th quarter of 1964. The bracelet has 13 full links and light stretch.
