SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a lovely example of the incredibly popular Rolex “Zenith” Daytona, so-called for its movement made by the brand, Zenith. Rolex introduced the automatic movement chronograph in 1987, using a movement manufactured by Zenith, as it was the industry’s only self-winding chronograph movement that met Rolex’s high quality standards. This particular example is the earliest iteration of the Zenith-movement Daytona, circa 1987 (R-serial), and was made in two-tone steel and gold, bearing the reference 16523. Further, this watch features the more popular black dial, with a “floating” dial (meaning that the “Cosmograph” designation on the dial shows a gap in between the print above it) which is only seen in watches produced early on from 1987-1989. Further, this example comes with its original Rolex box and “punched” Warranty Certificate, originally sold in Rome, Italy, in 1989.
This Rolex Daytona is in great vintage condition. The case appears unpolished, with thick and even sharp lugs. The dial is in mint condition, with no flaws, and likewise for the lume. The bezel shows no detail/color loss.
Finally, the watch comes on its original Rolex 78363/403 Oyster bracelet, with 11 full links, and no stretch.
