Rolex "Blackout 14270" Explorer

SOLD

Rolex “Blackout 14270” Explorer

SOLD

Description

Offered here is a very rare and low production Rolex Explorer, Ref. 14270, nicknamed the “blackout” Explorer, produced only in the year 1990 (E-serial).  These watches have soared in popularity as of late, seen as a more affordable variant as compared to their earlier counterpart – the reference 1016. Further, this particular example is fitted with a rare “blackout” dial, wherein the 3, 6, and 9 markers are filled with black enamel (as opposed to luminous material as normal 14270s). This particular example is in great “neo”-vintage condition.  The case was likely lightly polished in the past, but remains thick and sharp, clearly very lightly detailed. The dial is in great condition, still retaining its factory gloss, and with no wear or loss to the luminous material. The watch comes fitted on a Rolex Oyster 78360 bracelet with 558 endlinks, and has 12 full links with no stretch.
