Rolex “6269” Daytona

SOLD

Description

We don’t even know where to start with this one — this is an end game level watch, one watch to rule them all.  Let’s start with the basics: offered here is an extremely rare opportunity to own one of the rarest and most exclusive Rolex Daytonas of all time, the reference 6269, circa 1986.  The reference 6269 (and its baguette counterpart, the 6270) marked the first time Rolex produced an “off-catalog” factory gem-set Daytona.  These watches were produced for a very short window in the late 1980s, with very few examples known to have been sold by the maker.  The reference 6269 features a bezel with 44 brilliant-cut diamonds, and a pave diamond dial with nearly 240 stones.  While gem-set Daytonas are very well-known in Rolex’s production in the modern era, the 6269/6270 was the genesis of this trend, and set the stage for all the crazy gem-set modern Daytonas we see today.

The condition on this Rolex Daytona is incredible, likely one of the most well-preserved 6269s left in the world.  The case remains unpolished and sharp, with extremely light wear from careful use, and retains its original caseback sticker; further, the case and bracelet have both developed an amazing and warm patina, another sign of its exceptional preservation and lack of polishing.  The dial remains perfect, with no wear, as do all of the stones on both dial and bezel.  Finally, the watch remains on its original gold Rolex Oyster 7205 rivet bracelet with correct 71 endlinks and correct date-code (K) matching the watch, and has 11 full links with no stretch.

If you are looking for a holy-grail Rolex Daytona, and in the best condition you could possibly find it, look absolutely no further.
