Rolex “6238 Pre-Daytona” Chronograph

Description
Up for grabs is a rare Rolex Cosmograph chronograph, nicknamed the “Pre-Daytona”, due to its production before the famous Daytona line. The Rolex Cosmograph, Reference 6238, was produced during the 1960s, with estimated production between 1962 and 1968; Rolex produced an estimated 2,000-2,500 examples, with varying configurations, putting production numbers much lower than that of its later Daytona counterpart. This particular example dates to 1964.
This Rolex Cosmograph is in great vintage condition. The case does not appear to have been polished, with normal wear from use. The silver sunburst dial is beautiful, with no major flaws. The original tritium lume is present in both dial and hands, with only partial lume loss to some of the plots, consistent with the aging of these dials. The watch comes fitted on a Rolex USA Jubilee bracelet, with medium stretch.
