Rolex "5513 Meters First" Submariner

SOLD

Rolex “5513 Meters First” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a very well-preserved and attractive “meters first” Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, circa 1968 (1.7m serial).  The “meters first” dials were the very first Rolex Submariner models to feature a “matte” dial, and are considered transitional from gilt to matte, with a limited production of around 3-4 years.

This Rolex Submariner is in great vintage condition.  The case has been polished in the past, with original beveled edges, and showing honest wear from use over the years.  The dial is nearly flawless, with no scratches, tool marks, etc; there is very minor wear at the edge of the dial by 6 o’clock.  The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, aged to a nice pale yellow color. The original fat font and “Long 5” insert has uniquely aged to a navy hue appearance, with minimal wear.

The watch is fitted on a Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet with 80 endlinks, dated to 1970, and has 11 full links with light stretch.
