SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is one of the rarest stone dials that Rolex produced – the red Jasper stone. This rare stone was fit in a Rolex Datejust, reference 1601/8, housed in 18kt yellow gold, and produced circa 1972. The red Jasper is known as an “aggregate” gemtone, consisting of a mixture of quartz and chalcedony; while most Jasper stones are seen in green, with a much rarer variant seen with red.
The condition of this very rare Rolex Datejust is excellent. The case has been polished in the past, but retains thick and even lugs. Further, the stone dial is excellent, showing no cracks or hairlines. Finally, the watch is fitted on a recently restored Rolex South American Presidential bracelet, fitting an approximate 7.2″ wrist with no stretch.
