Omega “186.0004” Speedmaster

SOLD

Description

We do not often offer quartz/LED watches for sale, but when we do, they are downright cool ones! Offered here is an Omega Speedmaster, reference 186.0004.  According to Omega, within their “Alaska” series of Speedies presented to NASA, Omega created his Quartz model as a prototype.  The movement was based off a BETA light system, which consisted of two tritium tubes behing the LCD display to illuminate the display.  These watches were sent to NASA astronauts in the late 1970s, who then tested the watch in training and on the Space Shuttle. The watch offered here is from the normal run of production of the reference made for the public, based on the Alaska prototype

This Omega Speedmaster Alaska IV is in great vintage condition, with an unpolished case, with normal wear and tear, and the bakelite black bezel remains without cracks.  Please Note: the original sapphire crystal has some light scuffs.
