Longines “7042” Super Compressor

Description

Offered here is a Longines Super Compressor, circa 1960, the reference 7042. The Super Compressor case was manufactured by Piquerez, and were famously designed to rely on underwater pressure to increase their water resistance.  They were produced in a large 42mm steel case, and fitted with a striking gilt dial.  This particular Longines Super Compressor is very well-preserved for a dive watch of this era.  The case remains unpolished, with normal wear from use.  Further, the dial shows no significant wear or damage, and a nice and even patina/matting set in, uniform across the dial.  The original radium lume is in-tact on both dial and hands, aged to a golden orange color.  Additionally, the watch comes fitted on a steel Longines expandable bracelet.
