Up for grabs is a rare and desirable second execution Gallet Flight Officer, circa 1950s. These watches were fitted in “clamshell” cases, which were Gallet’s patented first waterproof cases made for a chronograph. The Flight Officer line is often associated with President Truman, as he was known to wear same watch.
This Gallet Flight Officer is in great vintage condition. The case is in perfect condition and unpolished. The dial shows wear/patina consistent with the aging of these dials, but is very attractive. The lume is still present in both hands and dial, and is original radium material.
This watch also has interesting provenance, as it was the property of a Commodore from Niagra Falls, New York, and is engraved “E.C. Oswald. Commodore. L.Y.C.(Larchmont Yacht Club). 1957”
