Cartier "Jumbo" Gondole

Cartier “Jumbo” Gondole

SOLD

Description

In 1972, Cartier moved the watches production from France to Switzerland, to La Chaux de Fonds at Ebel. From this cooperation was born the “Louis Cartier” collection, 12 gold models with gold buckle inspired along the lines of the past, but revised in a modern key.  Up for grabs is a watch that most embodies the spirit of those days, the iconic Jumbo Gondole (or Vertical TV/Ellipse ).  This reference was featured in Franco Cologni’s “Cartier Bianco (White)” book and it is believed that only 4 or 5 pieces are known to the market in white gold.

The condition of the Cartier Gondole is excellent, with an unpolished case and mint dial, with no signs of wear.  The watch is fitted on it’s original and scarce white gold deployment buckle with correct stamps, and its original black crocodile Cartier strap, fitting approximately a 7″ wrist.
