Audemars Piguet “Observatory-Dial” Precision

Up for grabs is a very special and exceedingly rare Audemars Piguet Precision, circa 1948.  Vintage Audemars Piguet are some of the most sought-after and collectible watches in all of vintage collecting, due to their rarity (low production numbers), and high-grade movements (for the era), such as the caliber 13VZAS found in the present watch.  Only a handful of these “observatory”-style Precisions are known to exist; this particular example is housed in a 32mm steel case, fit with a champagne dial and matching gold crown.

This Audemars Piguet Precision is very well-preserved for its age and rarity.  The steel case does not show any signs of polishing, remaining thick, even, and sharp.  Further, the original dial presents well, showing some light aging/wear, consistent with other known 1940s Precisions known to the market.  Lastly, the watch still shockingly retains its original crystal.
