SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a very special and rare Vacheron Constantin “Cioccolatone”, reference 6440, produced in the early 1960s. This model was given the moniker “Cioccolatone”, as it resembles a square of chocolate, and was made throughout the 1950s and 1960s in both manual and automatic variants. This particular example comes complete with its original Vacheron box, Certificate of Guarantee, and original sales receipt and import document, purchased in 1963 by Mexican Senor General Alfonso Gurza, who was a military attache.
The watch itself is in superb condition, completely untouched, with an unpolished case and near-mint dial. Coupled together with the amazing provenance of this watch, a better 6440 has likely never come to market!
