Universal Geneve “18kt H.P.C. Spillino” Tri-Compax

SOLD

Description

Offered here is a stunning example of an extremely rare Universal Geneve Tri-Compax, circa 1952-1955, reference 122100-1. Housed in a 35mm and 18kt yellow gold screwback/waterproof case, these watches were some of the most complicated and advanced wristwatches for their time.  Further, this particular example stands out for its rare “spillino” pushers (smaller in comparison to normal pushers), and the “H.P.C” designation on the dial, which is believed to denote a “high precision chronometer”, rarely seen on various UG models. This particular example was sourced out of South America, and is inscribed on the back as given to a Middle Infantry serviceman after completion of their training.

This example is in lovely vintage condition. The yellow gold case appears unpolished and sharp, and shows minimal wear. The dial shows a unique and even patina throughout, giving the dial an interesting character.  Please Note: the winding crown appears to have been replaced in the past.
