Tudor “Monte Carlo” Oysterdate Chronograph

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a Tudor Oysterdate “Monte Carlo” Chronograph, Reference 7159/0, circa 1974.  This version of the Monte Carlo follows the earlier 7031/2 “Homeplate” version; in these new models, Tudor upgraded their movement to a column wheel chronograph movement (Caliber 234), from the previous cam Valjoux 7734.  This particular example features a grey dial, and matching steel bezel.

This Tudor Monte Carlo is in great vintage condition.  The case has been previously polished, but remains thick and even.  The dial is perfect, with not a blemish in sight.  Likewise, the original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands – these models were prone to lume flaking off, so to find one with all its lume in tact has become difficult.

The watch comes fitted on a Tudor folded-link 7836 bracelet, with 458B endlinks, and has 12 full links with very light stretch.
