Universal Geneve Compur

SKU: fvee3222x22s Categories: , ,

Up for grabs is an extremely rare and early Universal Geneve Compur, circa 1940s, with black gilt dial, and housed in a large, 37mm steel case.  These early UG chronographs were stamped “Universal Watch” on the bridge, and “Enversteel” (stainless steel) inside the caseback, and did not bear a reference number. Further, this dial configuration features “big eye” oversized registers, compared to black gilt dials found in waterproof/screwback cases, which traditionally have smaller registers.

This Universal Geneve Compur is in excellent condition.  The case does not appear polished, with normal wear. The dial is still extremely glossy, with a mirror-like finish (you can even see my reflection in the photos in a couple pictures!), and minimal wear.  The dial still retains its original radium lume, aged to a golden yellow; the hands appear to have been relumed in the past, and no longer glow when exposed to UV light.  The bracelet is a generic beads-of-rice bracelet.
