Rolex “NOS Full-Set 1675 MK2” GMT-Master

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is an incredible “new old stock” example of a Reference 1675, Rolex “GMT-Master”, with a rare MK2 (Mark 2) dial, only used for a short period of time in the early 1970s. The serial of this GMT-Master is 31xxxxx, dating this watch to 1971.  Additionally, the watch is fitted (and original to the watch) a rare “mega fat font” bezel, arguably the most desirable bezel variant out there.  This watch comes from an important collector from New York City, originally sold to him by us in 2018, where we sourced it from the family of the original owner out of South Africa, where it sat unused practically its whole life according to them.  The watch comes complete with its original Rolex box (with 1675 sticker), “punched” Guarantee Certificate, hangtag (with serial), and booklet.

The watch itself is in perfect vintage condition.  The case is unpolished and sharp, with thick and even lugs, and nicely defined edges; the original caseback sticker is still present on the caseback.  The dial is devoid of any chips, scratches, or flaws, and is in perfect condition.  The original tritium lume is still present on both the dial and hands, aged to a lovely yellow color.  Finally, the original “redback” mega fat font Pepsi bezel insert is in perfect condition, with no wear.

The watch comes fitted on a Rolex Swiss Jubilee bracelet, dated to 1971, with no stretch, and fitting an approximate 7″ wrist.

This watch a true time capsule, and the opportunity to buy a new old stock full-set watch such as this from 1971 does not come up often!
