Patek Philippe “3448 Beyer” Perpetual Calendar

SOLD

Description

Offered here for sale is a very rare and special watch, a Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar, reference 3448, circa 1977 and signed by the retailer “Beyer”.  The reference 3448 was a special automatic perpetual calendar watch made by Patek over a 20 year period from 1962 to 1981.  During this period, only roughly 586 examples were made, and very few had retailer signatures.  Fit in a large “padellone” case, this reference remains one of the most popular perpetual calendar references made by Patek, even favored by celebrities such as Andy Warhol and Ringo Starr.  This example is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives, confirming production of the watch in 1977 and its subsequent sale in 1979, and is fitted on an original Patek Philippe leather strap and Patek gold buckle.

The watch itself is in outstanding condition, truly “collector’s grade”. The case remains unpolished and razor sharp, with normal wear from use, and with all hallmarks remaining crisp and visible.  The fourth execution dial remains crisp, never cleaned or restored, and with no damage.  Overall, this is an exceptional watch in truly exceptional condition, and it will be hard to find another as crisp, especially co-signed by a major retailer.
