Up for grabs is an excellent example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 2.2 million, this watch dates the watch to 1968, and has an “MK3” and “Meters First” dial. Further, the dial on this particular example has aged to a brown or “tropical” color.
The present example is in excellent condition. The case shows thick and even lugs, with lovely beveled edges, professionally recut to mimic the factory beveling. The dial is mint, with no flaws, marks or chips, with an evenly aged brown dial, visible in any light (indoors or outdoors). The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to a nice yellow color. The bezel insert is an original and period correct, and has aged to a lovely navy blue color.
The watch comes fitted on a later Rolex Oyster 93150 bracelet with 501B endlinks, and the bracelet has 12 full links with no stretch.
