Description
Up for grabs is an attractive example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 2.5 million, this watch dates the watch to 1970, and has an “MK4” dial.
The watch itself is in great condition. The case shows thick and even lugs, with original beveled edges still visible, polished sparingly in the past. The dial is beautiful, with no chips, scratches, marks, etc., but does show some very light bubbling, only visible under a loupe and at an angle. The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to a vibrant pumpkin color on the dial, and a shade lighter in the hands. The “fat font” and “kissing 40” bezel insert has aged to a naturally faded blue color, with normal wear.
The watch comes fitted on a Rolex flip-lock 93150 bracelet, with 585 endlinks, and is dated 1st quarter of 1976. The bracelet has 11 full links, and almost no stretch/wear.
