Up for grabs is an excellent example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 2.8 million, this watch dates the watch to 1971. The present example is in great condition. The case shows thick and even lugs, lightly polished, but with original beveled edges still visible. The dial is dead mint, with no flaws, marks or chips. The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to a vibrant yellow color. The “fat font” bezel insert is in good condition with virtually no wear.
The watch comes fitted on its original folded-link 9315 bracelet, with 280 endlinks and 10 full links, and is dated 4th quarter of 1971. The bracelet has moderate stretch/wear.
