Rolex "Rail Dial" Sea-Dweller - Menta Watches- Buy Vintage and Modern Timepieces

Up for grabs is a rare Rolex Seadweller, circa 1978. This example is fitted with a “rail dial”, which denotes the text and spacing of the bottom two lines of text; these dials are only found in a small serial range batch, and were only produced for 1-2 years. The Sea-Dweller was designed for diving under extreme depths, and were thus fitted with a helium escape valve on the left-hand side of the case, which was used to release pressure as it built up under water.

This example is in great vintage condition. The case has been lightly polished in the past, with the original bevels still present and visible. The dial is in excellent condition, with seemingly no wear. The original tritium lume is still present on both hands and dial, aged to a nice yellow color. The insert is original and period correct for this reference, aged to a nice navy blue hue. The watch comes fitted on an original Rolex Oyster flip-lock 93150/585 bracelet, with 11 full links and almost no stretch.
