Rolex “Meters First” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a lovely “meters first” Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, circa 1967 (1.7m serial).  The “meters first” dials were the very first Rolex Submariner models to feature a “matte” dial, and are considered transitional from gilt to matte, with a limited production of around 3-4 years.  This Rolex Submariner is in great condition.  The case has been previously polished, but the lugs remain thick and even, with beautifully beveled edges.  The dial is flawless, with no chips, scratches, tool marks, etc.  The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, aged to a striking and vibrant puffy yellow color. The original fat font and “Long 5” insert is in good condition, and aged to a dark blue hue.

Lastly, this Submariner comes on its original Rolex Oyster Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet, with correct 80 endlinks, dated to the 2nd quarter of 1968, and has 12 full links with light stretch.
