Rolex "Meters First Red" Submariner

SOLD

Rolex “Meters First Red” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is an excellent example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 2.3 million, this watch dates the watch to 1969, and has an “MK2” (second execution) and “Meters First” dial.

The present example is in great vintage condition. The case shows thick and even lugs, and appears modestly polished in the past, with visible beveled edges. The dial is mint, with no flaws, marks or chips. The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to a nice cream color. The bezel insert is an original and period correct “Long 5”, with light wear from use.

The watch comes fitted on a Rolex folded-link 9315 bracelet, with 280 endlinks, and is dated to 1971. The bracelet has 12 full links and has moderate stretch/wear.
