Rolex “Chevron-Dial” Oyster

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a stunning and rare Rolex Oyster, circa 1956, with a rare “Chevron” dial, so-called because of its honeycomb quartered dial that is ribbed in a “V” pattern, like a chevron.  This specific example also features a “3-6-9” numeral marker layout, which shares the same layout as the popular Explorer dials.  This Rolex Oyster is in excellent vintage condition.  The case appears unpolished and sharp, with minimal wear.  The honeycomb dial is beautiful, with no visible wear or damage, and beginning to age to a light cream color.  Likewise, the original radium lume – still present on both dial and hands (with some minor loss in the minute hand) – is extremely attractive, aged to a pumpkin orange color.
