SOLD
Description
Offered here is a beautiful example of Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6263 (circa 1978; 5.5m serial), nicknamed the “Big Red” Daytona, due to the printing of Daytona in red; this variant is also referred to as the “floating” Big Red, due to the positioning of Daytona, which appears to be floating above the bottom register. This example is outfitted with a panda-silver dial, and features screwdown pushers. These screwdown pusher-Daytonas have soared in popularity over the last couple decades, and are coveted by collectors, new and old.
The condition of this Daytona is excellent. The case does not show signs of overpolishing, with thick, even and sharp lugs. The dial is in beautiful condition, with no major flaws, scratches, marks, etc. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, with extremely beautiful vibrant yellow and puffy plots, all of which are well-preserved and in-tact (save for some very minor loss to the 3 and 9 o’clock plots, as is common on these); the hands have aged to a darker lume color. The original Bakelite black bezel is likewise in great condition, with no cracks.
The watch also comes on a Rolex Oyster 78350 bracelet with 571 endlinks, and has 11 full links with no stretch.
