Offered here is a very rare and beautiful Rolex Submariner, Ref. 6536-1, with a “thin case” produced for a short time. Introduced in 1955, the 6536/1 is commonly considered a transitional model from Rolex’s earliest executions to the later Big Crown versions. This particular example dates to 1958.
This Rolex “Small Crown” Submariner is in great vintage condition. The case has been lightly polished in the past, but still retains thick and even lugs. The dial is in good condition, still very glossy, with spidering to the lacquer at an angle/ The original radium lume is present on the dial, aged to a pale yellow color; the original gilt hands appear to have an old tritium relume. The later “Long 5” bezel insert is in great condition, with a nice grey fade.
Further, the watch comes on a later Rolex C&I Rivet bracelet, dated to 1973, with 10 full-links and medium stretch.
