Rolex “6265 18kt” Daytona

SOLD

Description

Offered here is a lovely and crisp example of Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6265 (circa 1979; 6.2m serial), produced in 18kt Yellow Gold.  During this era, very few Daytonas were produced in gold, most being fitted in a steel case. In fact, allegedly less than 10% of the 24,000 of 6263 and 6265 watches for the 20 year period of their production run were made in gold.  This example is outfitted with the more desirable black dial.

The condition of this Daytona is excellent. The case does not appear to have been polished in the past, with thick and sharp lugs; if it was ever polished, it was done extremely lightly. The dial is in beautiful condition, with absolutely no wear or damage. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, and in excellent condition; the plots are perfectly aged to a pale yellow color. The bezel still has all of its original detail, and is also razor sharp.

Further, the watch comes fitted on its original Rolex Swiss Rivet 7205 band, with their correct and highly-coveted “71” endlinks.  The bracelet has 12 links and virtually no stretch.

This is a rare opportunity to add a true collector’s-grade 18kt gold Daytona to your collection, in its most desirable form.
