Up for grabs is a very well-preserved and attractive “meters first” Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, circa 1967 (1.6m serial). The “meters first” dials were the very first Rolex Submariner models to feature a “matte” dial, and are considered transitional from gilt to matte, with a limited production of around 3-4 years.
This Rolex Submariner is in great vintage condition. The case appears unpolished, with original beveled edges, and showing honest wear from use over the years. The dial is flawless, with no chips, scratches, tool marks, etc. The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color. The original fat font and “Long 5” insert has uniquely aged to a light faded appearance, with minimal wear.
The watch is fitted on a Rolex C&I stretch rivet bracelet, dated to 1977, and has 11 full links with no stretch.
