Rolex “18038 Raspberry Stella” Day-Date

Up for grabs is an exceptional and highly desirable Rolex Day-Date, reference 18038, circa 1985, fitted with a very rare red-raspberry “Stella” dial.  The “Stella” lacquer dials were first introduced by Rolex in the 1970s, allegedly developed for Asian and Middle Eastern markets.  It appears they produced two different shades of red for the Stella, as the traditional red Stella dial is distinctly darker, and the present example has a more brighter color with purple hues in the color.  This particular Rolex Stella-dial Day-Date is in excellent vintage condition, with a sharp and thick case, near-perfect dial (miniscule hairline to the edge of the dial between the 10 and 11 o’clock markers, not visible to the naked eye), and perfect original tritium lume on both dial and hands, aged to a lovely yellow color.  The original Rolex presidential bracelet is in great condition with no stretch, and has three removable links, fitting an approximate 7″ wrist.
